Delta girls’ tennis took advantage of a beautiful day on Saturday to play a home-road double-header, both against state-ranked teams.

In the morning, the 13th-ranked Eagles hosted 10th-ranked South Bend St. Joseph. Delta lost 3-2 as the Indians controlled the action at No. 1 singles and both doubles,

Senior Emma Snider won 6-1, 6-4 at No. 2 singles. Freshman Tynan Dishman won by an identical score at No. 3 singles.

South Bend standout Maddie Yergler defeated Ellie Snider 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1 singles.

The Indians swept doubles handily, winning 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles over Grace Belangee and Lexie Manor and prevailing 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles over Maggie Manor and Kortney Helm.

South Bend won both JV matches, also. Freshman Abby Bamidele lost 0-6, 4-6 in singles, and freshmen Sara Cardemon and Mary Groover dropped an exciting match, 1-6, 6-4, 11-13 in a third-set tiebreaker.

In the afternoon, the Eagles traveled to Fort Wayne Canterbury and gained a 5-0 road victory (see separate recap).
