boys tennis · Boys’ Tennis Sweeps New Castle to Stay Unbeaten in HHC

The Eagles handled a challenge from an improving New Castle program by winning the varsity match 5-0 and the JV match 12-0 on Tuesday evening at DHS.

Delta now has won 138 of its past 139 Hoosier Heritage Conference matches in boys’ and girls’ tennis since Fall 2010.

The varsity limited the Trojans to just 17 total games in the match. Leading the way was the No. 1 doubles team of Brandon Jackson and Walker Boyle, who won 6-0, 6-0.  No. 1 singles player Tanner Southerland won 6-1, 6-1.

Josef Zacek played one of his top matches of the season with a 6-2, 6-3 victory at No. 2 singles.  Adam Altobella rattled off the final seven games in a 6-4, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles.  And Jordan Ashton/Riley Windsor finished the sweep with a 6-3, 6-3 victory at No. 2 doubles.

Eli Arnold, Landon Freiburger, Logan Anderson, Isaac Anderson, Ross Meacham, Will Kile, and Cooper Roach all won JV matches by 8-0 scores.

The varsity improved to 8-3 overall and 4-0 in the Hoosier Heritage Conference.  The JV is 7-1 and also unbeaten in HHC play.
