The Delta girls’ tennis team ended the regular season with a 5-0 shutout victory at Mississinewa on Monday evening.
Mississinewa had won 12 of its last 13 matches, but Delta controlled every court for a comfortable victory. The 16th-ranked Eagles won for the 12th time this spring by shutout and finished the regular season with a 14-3 record.
No. 1 singles player Ellie Snider, a sophomore, improved her record to 15-4 with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Mississinewa junior standout Haleigh Rowley.
Grace Belangee, junior, is now 17-3 after she won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. Sophomore Mayzie Hinkle is also 17-3 after her 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 3 singles.
Senior Abby Shafer and junior Emma Snider are 17-2 together at No. 1 doubles. They won 6-2, 6-3 on Monday evening.
Juniors Lexie Manor and Kortney Helm won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 doubles and are 15-4 together.
Delta will face Muncie Central at 4:45 p.m. Wednesday in the opening round of the Delta Sectional. Yorktown and Muncie Burris will play at 4:45 p.m. Thursday in the other semifinal, with the championship round set for Friday at 4:45 p.m.
Delta has won 24 of the past 25 sectional titles and five of the last six regional championships. The winner of the Delta Sectional advances to the Marion Regional next week.
