Multiple Teams · Delta Baseball Weekly Recap

Tuesday 4/25

Last night was a fantastic night for Delta Baseball.  The new Veterans’ field was officially dedicated and honored.  There were 5 special guests, who played an integral part in the new field completion, in attendance.  Those guests were current Superintendent Reece Mann, Assistant Superintendent Dr. Darin Gullion, former Superintendent Steve Hall, Principal Chris Conley, and Board Member John Adams.  These guests were all honored with a memorial plaque for their contributions.  Next came a first pitch from Superintendent Mann, and former Steve Hall.  Mr. Mann threw the ball to Head Coach Seth Paul and Hall threw the ball to Assistant Coach Chad Hinds.  The Eagles would finish off the excellent night by defeating, cross town rival, Wapahani, by a score of 9-0.  The game was highlighted by Jake Van Pelt’s brilliant complete game shutout, on 2 days rest. Van Pelt fired 69 pitches over 7 innings, only allowed 2 hits, struck out 4,  and allowed only 1  walk.   Van Pelt also provided the offense early and often with his first homerun of the year, a 2 run blast over the left field fence, in the bottom of the first.  Multiple Eagles provided offensive support, but Charlie May lead the day with 3 hits and 2 RBI.   Coach Paul, his assistants, and all of the players would like to thank the Parents, Blue Crew, and all the fans for a great atmosphere at last nights game.  Delta Varsity will return to Veterans’ this Friday for a conference match-up against Shelbyville. The games will start at 5:30.  We hope to see all the fans back Friday, and are looking forward to playing in another great atmosphere.
