The Eagles went 20 for 20 on Thursday night in a girls’ tennis conference match at New Palestine.
Delta won the varsity match 5-0 and swept the junior varsity match 15-0.
In the varsity match, Abby Shafer and Maddie Holdren played some of their top tennis of the year in a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 2 doubles. Emma Snider also was very sharp at No. 1 singles in a 6-0, 6-1 win.
Grace Belangee won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 singles; Mayzie Hinkle won 6-1, 6-3 at No. 3 singles; and Sarah Ogle and Emily Decker bounced back from an 0-3 hole to win 6-4, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles.
The varsity, ranked 12th, is 9-1 and has won five straight shutouts. The Eagles are 4-0 in the Hoosier Heritage Conference and are in first place.
For the undefeated JV (9-0), Kim Schneider, Shelby Robbins, Lauren Milligan, Claire Fitzwater, Keirsten Bankson, and Lexie Manor won singles matches. Doubles winners were Jasmine Robinson/Anna Groover, Kortney Helm/Katelyn Milligan; Lexie Manor/Katelyn Lopiccolo, Helene Thomassen/Marissa Mercer; Haleigh Criswell/Bryn Marlow; Brooke Kemp/Danielle Polk; Ruth Smith/Joli Finley; Ryley Bilbrey/Lily Brannon; and Lexi Bailey/Valeria Ulloa.
Next up for the Eagles will be the Delta Invitational on Saturday. Four state-ranked teams will be among the participants. In addition to No. 12 Delta, other teams include No. 17 Fot Wayne Carroll, No. 28 Hamilton Southeastern, No. 30 Warsaw, Yorktown and Madison-Grant.
