The girls’ tennis team continued its hot streak with another 5-0 shutout victory Tuesday night. The Eagles blanked Alexandria in a road match.
The 12th-ranked Eagles are 8-1 and have won four straight matches by shutout. They have beaten Burris, Mt. Vernon, New Castle and Alexandria in recent days.
The also finished second recently at the eight-team Crawfordsville Invitational. Third-ranked Cathedral won that tournament, but Delta placed ahead of 13th-ranked Terre Haute North, 26th-ranked Floyd Central and 28th-ranked Providence.
The varsity is 8-1 and the JV is 8-0 entering Thursday night’s road trip to New Palestine. Delta is unbeaten in Hoosier Heritage Conference play.
The Eagles will host the Delta Invitational on Saturday, starting at 8:45 a.m. Three state-ranked opponents — Fort Wayne Carroll, Hamilton Southeastern and Warsaw — will join Delta along with Yorktown and Madison-Grant in the tournament.
