The Delta girls golf team is full of enthusiasm and experience. The team has six returning seniors who are ready to finish their last year strong. The seniors are Jami Parsons, Rachel Russell, Tamara Modglin, Mollie Elliott, Emily Grant and Kirsten Hagen.
Many of the girls have been on the team all four years of high school. Jami Parsons is one of those golfers. She plays outside of school at The Player’s Club, and she is looking forward to sectionals. “I love that it’s really challenging. You can have really good days and really bad days,” Parsons said.
Tamara Modglin has also been on the golf team for all four years. Over the years she has learned a lot. “I’ve learned how to keep my head in the game,” Modglin said.
Although many of the players are returning, the coach is new. This is Mr. Tom Kemp’s first year coaching the golf team. With six seniors on board he has no problem teaching the younger girls how to follow golf course etiquette. Their main goal is to get past sectionals and back to regionals.
“We want to play our best and see what happens,” said Kemp. The team’s current record is 1-0 in duals, with most of their meets being invitationals.
