Multiple Teams · Eagles Looking for Victory in Season Opener Against Jay County

Another Delta football season is set to start this Friday, August 23, 2013, against Jay County. Not only is it the first game of the season, it is also the home opener.

Along with a new season, a new ranking is brought to Delta. The Eagles went from Class 4A to Class 3A and are ranked #10 in pre-season polls.

Junior Mason Bechdolt is ready to start the season off with a new position. A wingback last season, he will play defensive end this year.

And at the last scrimmage, Bechdolt is proud of the job he did at his new position. Also when talking to Bechdolt about the team’s upcoming opponent, he feels they will be a challenging opponent.

“Jay County has the advantage of being ‘big, strong farm boys’, which makes them a tough opponent,” Bechdolt said.

One area that the team is trying to work on is getting stronger team chemistry and working together, said junior lineman Hunter Holbrook.

Holbrook said another team goal is to make another “deep post-season run.”

With the upcoming game, the Eagles are hoping to turn their first game into their first victory of the season. Kickoff will be 7:30 p.m. Friday.
